Penny has been struggling with the school system for weeks. The meeting with her son’s special education teacher did not go well. There is supposed to be instructors to help but the teacher said the school can’t afford it. She also spoke with the school’s principle but was met with the same sentiment. She shared this information with some other special needs parents and found they also had concerns. They decided to all go to the school board meeting tonight and address their concerns together.

That night at the meeting, Penny shared her story and her request for a second teacher. She concluded by saying that she isn’t the only one that feels that way. As she motioned across the room the parents stood up in unity with Penny. However, it didn’t stop there. A human wave then swept across the floor as every person listened to Penny’s story and stood with her and the other parents. The board members were greatly moved by seeing the whole room stand in unison and without deliberation, the board voted unanimously for the second teacher. Penny was in awe. She felt love, compassion, elation and joy.  “When people act with in one mind and one accord,” she thought to herself, ”anything is possible.”
